Noah started off his senior year with an internship at Meals on Wheels where he excelled in his tasks due to his focus and dedication to his work. As a second internship, he asked to work at a school so he could have more interactions with children. In March, he began as a kitchen assistant with Miss Kelly at All Saints Catholic Academy. Halloween may have come and gone, but the memories (and leftover treats) are still very much alive! This year, Living Resources went all out, transforming the office and our programs across the capital region into hubs of spooky, sweet celebration. Cason is a graduate of the 2024 College Experience class. During her time in the program, she showed an interest in retail and childcare, having held internships at both Peter Harris and Mercy Care for Kids. It was at Mercy Care for Kids where she found her calling. She instantly connected with the children and showed empathy with them. As one of her post-graduation goals, Cason decided she wanted to work as a Teaching Assistant (TA) at a daycare. Canaan Cassano has known what he wanted to do with his life since he was in 5th grade. Today, he is living out his dream of working with computers right here at Living Resources. Canaan is a graduate of Living Resources’ College Experience Program and now he works part-time as a Computer Support Specialist. Canaan began his career in computers as an intern at Bethlehem High School. There, he assisted with setting up and troubleshooting audio/visual equipment. Recently, our Employment Services and Community Living programs came together to hold employment learning sessions for individuals in our Supportive Living program. These sessions allow individuals to learn about the qualities that make a responsible employee, as well as the proper way to conduct themselves in a professional setting. Professionalism was the theme of the day in this past session, with individuals sharing stories of their first jobs and what they learned about professionalism through that employment experience. One of the most rewarding parts about working in this field is watching the individuals you support work on goals and crush them. We celebrate the big and the small wins here at Living Resources, but today we’d like to highlight a big win for Chris. One of Chris’ goals is to pursue healthier lifestyle habits including cooking himself healthy meals and going for walks. August is National Diversity Awareness Month, and our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team celebrated in their signature fashion- with a party! They held a Meet and Greet social at our main office in Albany. Congrats to the Incoming College Experience Students! The first day of college can be scary, and when you’re leaving home for the first time is even more so. On Monday, August 12, Living Resources’ The College Experience welcomed new students into the program on the Russell Sage campus.
