Cheers to a festive holiday season!
Our more than 200 individuals who reside in Living Resources homes celebrated the holiday season with a lovely buffet dinner at Treviso in the Italian American Community Center. After dinner, the party moved to the next level with dancing to the sounds of Uforia Entertainment. Fun, laughter, and merriment were clearly part of the evening festivities. Everyone surely enjoyed the Cha Cha Slide, The Cupid Shuffle, and so much more.
Decking the Halls
The Schenectady Day Community Opportunities Program celebrated the season by decorating a tree for display at Schenectady's Annual Festival of Trees. Together, the team decided on the theme Little Pieces, part of the Big Picture. They created all the beautiful puzzle piece ornaments to show how together they work to create this amazing tree. The tree will be on display at the Schenectady County Historical Society from December 7 -22nd.
Thanksgathering in Ulster County
Living Resources' Ulster County Day Community Opportunities Program held their very first #Thanksgathering! They had a wonderful time sharing traditions and things they were thankful for this year. They each wrote their thoughts on feathers to decorate their "Ulster Family" turkey and then sat down to share some sides and pies made by their culinary group. Then they danced their snacks off and are looking forward to making this an annual event! #LivingResources #LivingResourcesfamily
Students Navigate College and Community Through CareerNext Program
Sean Murphy sums up his philosophy about the power of music this way: “It brings people together in a creative way. Everyone is hearing the same thing, whether they’re enjoying it or not – it’s the same unifying experience.” The Digital Music and Beat Production Certificate major plays guitar and has started to play piano as well, in addition to taking classes as part of his major, learning about AVID Pro Tools, sampling, and the creation of original compositions. In mid-November, the Saratoga Day Community Day Community Opportunities Program visited the Build- a- Bear store at Crossgates Mall. They had a blast and we understand they got the Bear necessities!
Thank you SEFCU!
We are so very grateful to our Community Partners! Earlier this year, our Acquired/Traumatic Brain Injury program received a grant from SEFCU and immediately began work on a thank you project that features thousands of mosaic tiles. The project took several months and on November 26, 2019, our supported artists presented their finished product to Kathy Lanni, SEFCU’s Chief Community Officer. Day Community Services now in Orange County
We couldn't be happier to announce that Living Resources Day Community Opportunity Program opened in Orange County this month. Our home base for this program- the New Prospect Reformed Church. The very first car as it leaves our home base to pick up and support our newest group of individuals. We are so excited to be welcomed into this wonderful community. Goblins, Witches & More
Back by popular demand, we opened our 300 Washington Avenue Extension Office to program participants and families of our staff for Trick or Treating fun! Pirates, damsels, witches, and goblins arrived with their empty goody bags in the lobby, they then followed a trail of treats throughout our offices, with a stop to play candy corn bowling.
