The holiday spirit is officially in full swing at Columbia Greene DCOP! This past week, individuals in the program brought some festive flair to their cooking class by diving into the wonderful world of holiday cookie decorating! This wasn't just a simple decorating session, though—it was a full-fledged culinary adventure! The individuals took charge every step of the way: Shopping: They started by heading out to purchase all the necessary supplies. This month, Living Resources was thrilled to welcome members of the board, staff, supported individuals, and families to our new gallery, Artfully Unique. Artfully Unique is a brand new gallery experience located at 2005 Western Avenue in Albany featuring art made by individuals with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities, as well as individuals with brain injuries. After months of preparation, we were thrilled to open our doors to our friends to give them a sneak peek at the wonderful collection for sale. The war room of the New York State Capitol was buzzing with excitement on November 18. Advocates from across the state gathered for the first rally of the season to call on Governor Hochul to make important investments in the I/DD community. There were speakers from across the community who came to share their stories. Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara opened up the rally and got the energy flowing in the room with his speech. What a fantastic night of fun, food, and dancing! The Golden Harvest Gala was a huge success, bringing together the wonderful communities of Columbia Greene DCOP and Dutchess DCOP for a celebration filled with laughter, connection, and joy. The St. James Church in Chatham set the perfect scene, cozy, welcoming, and alive with excitement. Our amazing staff went all out, serving up a feast that everyone raved about! Our artists are working on some fantastic pieces this month, blending large-scale painting with seasonal crafts and practical, calming projects. The spirit of courage, joy, and determination was on full display this month as a dedicated group of individuals supported by Living Resources traveled to Glens Falls, New York to compete in the 2025 Special Olympics State Fall Games. This annual event is much more than a competition; it is a powerful demonstration of the potential and unwavering spirit of athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
