The Colonie Golf and Country Club course was buzzing with excitement on Friday, September 19. Golfers came from far and wide to golf in Living Resources’ 16th Annual Golf Tournament. On Thursday, September 11 the Living Resources Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee hosted a fantastic potluck lunch to celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event was a fantastic way to honor the rich cultural traditions of Hispanic Americans. The potluck was a culinary journey filled with an impressive array of authentic Hispanic dishes and delectable desserts, all lovingly prepared by members of the DEI committee. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team of volunteers from Pursuit, an Albany-based SBA Loan company, who dedicated their morning to giving the porches at one of our College Experience homes a much-needed refresh. These homes are where students with intellectual and developmental disabilities live and learn as they build the skills and confidence to pursue their dreams. Thanks to Pursuit’s generosity, the students now return each day to a brighter, more welcoming home that reflects pride, care, and community. Direct Support Professionals are the dedicated, compassionate, and skilled individuals who work tirelessly every day to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) live fulfilling, independent, and joyful lives. DSPs are the backbone of our organization. They are mentors, advocates, friends, and trusted partners. They provide essential support, from helping with daily routines and managing households to facilitating community inclusion and building meaningful relationships. On August 17, the Saratoga Race Track became more than a place of world-class racing, it became a stage for dignity, creativity, and inclusion at A Tribute to Transforming Lives. Denise Riley, a proud 2012 graduate of the College Experience Program (CEP), has built a fulfilling life in Albany, New York, since moving from New York City 15 years ago to join the program. Her journey is a testament to perseverance, hard work, and the foundational support she received. Denise's time in the CEP program included valuable senior year internships, which laid the groundwork for her first job as a dietary aide at Teresian House in Albany.
