October is a special time of year when we celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), and there’s no better way to honor the occasion than by sharing the stories of those who inspire us every day. We’d like to shine a spotlight on a remarkable young man named Zach, who is a shining example of dedication and perseverance.
Zach is currently thriving in his third year of the College Experience Program. It’s a journey he’s embracing wholeheartedly, and it shows. He’s not only excelling in his coursework but also building a vibrant social life, having made a ton of friends along the way. His love for learning and his ability to connect with others are truly infectious.
When he’s not hitting the books, you can find Zach at the Bethlehem Public Library, where he’s become an invaluable part of the team. He’s responsible for a variety of tasks, including shelving and organizing books by author and genre. Zach is a true bookworm and has been a part of the library community since his high school days, when he worked at a different library.
Zach admits that getting the hang of his new role wasn’t easy at first, but with a little patience and a lot of determination, he’s now a pro. He’s a natural at finding his rhythm, and the peaceful, calm atmosphere of the library is the perfect fit for him. He also says his coworkers are all really nice and welcoming.
Zach’s life outside of work and school is just as rich and fulfilling. He lives independently with a roommate, and they get along great. He enjoys hanging out with friends and pursuing his personal passions, including his love for trains. He has a great appreciation for their intricate design and powerful journeys.
Zach’s story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we focus on an individual’s abilities and strengths. It’s a testament to the fact that everyone has a unique contribution to make, and when given the opportunity, they can flourish. We’re so incredibly proud of Zach and all he’s accomplished so far. His future is bright, and we can’t wait to see the great things he’ll do next!
