The Gratitude Tree

2025-12-05T09:09:18-05:00December 5th, 2025|Categories: News & Updates|

The spirit of gratitude has made its way through the Residential department here at Living Resources. All month long, staff have had the opportunity to share what they’re grateful for on the department’s gratitude tree. The brainchild of Miranda T., Administrative Assistant for the residential department, the tree is full of colorful leaves. When asked about the tree, Miranda stated that noting what you are thankful for has immense psychological benefits, and she wanted Residential staff members to feel those benefits in an exercise geared toward gratefulness in your work life. As part of a team building exercise, each leaf [...]

Celebrating Connection

The season of gratitude has officially arrived, and our Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program welcomed it with open arms—and empty stomachs! This week, we celebrated with a "feast fit for a king," transforming our gathering space into a warm, welcoming hall filled with the delicious aromas of a traditional holiday dinner. It was a heartwarming sight to see individuals in the program come together with their families, cherished friends, and dedicated advocates. The sense of community was palpable as the room buzzed with laughter, storytelling, and the joy of reconnection. Of course, the centerpiece of the afternoon was the incredible [...]

The war room of the New York State Capitol was buzzing with excitement on November 18. Advocates from across the state gathered for the first rally of the season to call on Governor Hochul to make important investments in the I/DD community. There were speakers from across the community who came to share their stories. Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara opened up the rally and got the energy flowing in the room with his speech. Senator Patricia Fahy was also in attendance, reaffirming her commitment to disability services. Elizabeth Martin, CEO of Living Resources, spoke about how these investments impact care providers. [...]

Warren DCOP Embodies the Spirit of Giving

2025-11-19T15:30:42-05:00November 19th, 2025|Categories: News & Updates|

The season of giving is here, and Living Resources is excited to talk about the great work done by our Warren Day Community Opportunities Program (DCOP). This month, the people in the Warren DCOP have been very busy helping others and making a difference in the community. The group started their volunteering at the Salvation Army. They knew winter was coming soon, so the DCOP members spent their time getting winter clothes ready for people who really need them. They carefully sorted and packed important things like scarves, gloves, and hats. This made sure that people facing the cold months [...]

Honoring Our Heroes: Ulster DCOP’s Day of Remembrance and Gratitude

2025-11-17T12:32:54-05:00November 17th, 2025|Categories: News & Updates|

This month was very special for the Ulster County Day Community Opportunities Program (DCOP). We had the chance to proudly celebrate and say thank you to the amazing men and women who have served in our country's military. It was a day full of thanks, learning, and real connections that left everyone feeling inspired. Our day started with a truly heartfelt activity: making personalized thank-you cards for local veterans. Our DCOP team put all their care and appreciation into every card. We decorated them with patriotic colors and wrote messages showing deep respect and thanks. Later, these cards were given [...]

A Spooktacular Celebration: Rockland DCOP’s Annual Halloween Bash!

2025-11-07T14:46:09-05:00November 7th, 2025|Categories: News & Updates|

We are still riding the wave of pure joy from our annual Halloween celebration! This year, Rockland DCOP transformed the mall's community room into a festive haunted haven for a Halloween bash that was nothing short of an absolute BLAST. The energy in the room was electric from the moment we started. Participants were all smiles, showing off their best moves during games like freeze dance and musical chairs. The spotlight also shined brightly during our lively karaoke sessions and the fiercely fun (and slightly spooky) zombie cup toss tournament! It was a fantastic showcase of teamwork, enthusiasm, and, of [...]

Fostering Civic Responsibility

2025-10-29T08:57:50-04:00October 29th, 2025|Categories: Today at Living Resources|

October 17 was a highly significant day for civic engagement at Living Resources. We proudly hosted a voter registration drive to empower the individuals we support, our staff, and the wider public to fully participate in the democratic process. We strongly believe the right to vote is a fundamental right that must be fully accessible to all people, regardless of ability. This event directly supports our mission to foster self-advocacy and ensure the voices of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) are heard. The drive, held at our main office, was a success due to our partnership with Headcount, [...]
