Situational Assessment: |
||
| An opportunity for an individual to try out different types of work and/or assess recovery at work that they have done before. These assessments are done at a business site with a job coach. | ||
Work Try-Outs: |
||
| Work try-outs are usually four weeks and offer a potential
employee and employer a change to get to know each other before a
commitment for a job is made by either party.
The employer agrees to put the individual on their payroll for the time period and pays the typical wage. The individual has a change to do the job on a daily basis. A job coach is available, as needed. At the end of the try-out, individual and coach evaluate the success of the try-out. |

Job Development: |
||
| Preliminary to placing an individual, the job coach will survey various employment resources to locate options for a good job match between potential employee and employer. | ||
Travel Training: |
||
| Teaching an employee skills needed to get back and forth to work, i.e.: identifying a safe route to walk, learning street signs, using public transportation. | ||
Intensive Training: |
||
| Some individuals may need support and supervision beyond what is usual in order to learn a new job. A job coach is available until, by consensus between employer, employee and coach, it is agreed that the employee is performing independently. | ||
On-going Support: |
||
| A job coach can be available for continuing visits with the employee and employer to facilitate communication, work on social skills, provide additional training if a job description changes or work on other needs, should they arise. This can also be referred to as "follow-along services." | ||

Advocacy: |

Community-Based Vocational Experience: |

| Working with special education students before they graduate to assess skill levels, possible areas of interest and expand their knowledge of the world of work. | ||
Developmental Disability: |
||
| A lifelong disability affecting normal growth and development that one is born with or that occurs before the age of 22. | ||
Brain Injury: |
||
| Trauma to the brain whether through accident, illness, or a birth. Effects of the injury may be physical, cognitive, executive or psychosocial. | ||
Incentives for Hiring: |

| These programs include wage reimbursement (NYS: Four Week Work Try-Outs) and credits on income tax (Federal: Welfare to Work Tax Credit, Disabled Access Tax Credit, Architectural and Transportation Barrier Removal Deduction; NYS: Workers with Disabilities Employment Tax Credit, Economic Development Zone Wage Tax Credit, Zone Equivalent Area Wage Tax Credit. | ||
