Carriage House Arts Center

A dream to provide quality art instruction to artists with disabilities came into reality when the arts center opened its doors in the beginning of 1997.

Located at 6A Cuyler Avenue in historic Albany, New York, the 1925 carriage house provides a stimulating and imaginative setting. Classes take place throughout the week in this gem of a building. In addition to this site we have expanded to provide services out of two additional studios. (2176 Guilderland Ave, Schenectady NY 12306, and 11 Round Lake Rd, Ballston Lake, NY 12019)

Spotlighting our students artwork throughout the community

The Carriage House Art Center has been highly recognized not only in the Capital District, but national as well. The students have won awards at numerous art shows including the State Wide Juried Art Show Voice!, The Autism Society Gala, The NYSACRA Conference, Sunny Viewpoint Gallery, and BUILT.

One of the greatest advantages for students' enrolled in our art center is our vast connections throughout the local art community. Our students' artwork has been displayed in local businesses and galleries such as The Albany County Convention and Visitor Center, State office buildings, Thatcher Park Nature Center, The Opalka Gallery at Saint Rose, Fulton Sy. Gallery in Troy, Case Gallery at Skidmore College, Saratoga Arts Council Building, and many more.

One of the most effective gallery spaces available to artists is our own Miller Sanders Gallery located in the Living Resources Coroporate Headquarters, which features several exhibits throughout the year.

Art Instruction at the Carriage House Art Center is provided through:

Medicaid Wavier:

Group Day Hab - Serves individuals living at home, or in Community Residences Classes occur on weekdays between 9-9:30AM and 2:00PM.

Supplemental Day Hab - Serves individuals who live at home or in non 24-hour care Group Homes. Classes occur during weekdays between 3PM and 8PM OR 9 AM - 5 P during weekends.

Private Pay -Those individuals who are either not waiver eligible or waiver enrolled can receive instruction at the current Medicaid Rate. Each class is 2 hours long
