Role of American Sign Language Interpreters

Professional interpreters have been trained to effectively process and convey information between two different languages; therefore, a practitioner in this field is a skilled facilitator of communication between Deaf and non-Deaf persons and is able to exceed a signed conversation.

Interpreters are not active participants of the dialog, but instead allow for effective communication among the parties involved, with attention to the adjustment of cultural implications and nuances.
