The young people in
the Living Resources After School Program are able
to enjoy a variety of activities, and they find the
capacity to socialize with their peers a vital part
of their day.
Trips to the library, or local museums, the time and
space to create art, a game of one-on-one
basketball, music therapy, yoga, and cooking or
baking are just as important to these individuals as
they are to anyone else their age.
Currently there are five After School Programs
throughout the Capital District to meet the needs of
students from age five to twenty-one. In four of our
programs, sessions are held at schools and follow
the host school’s calendar; running from 2-6pm
Mondays through Fridays. Transportation to program
is provided by the student’s home school district,
while families are responsible for picking up their
children by 6 pm.
The fifth program is
totally community-based. It is a without-walls
program which serves students in Saratoga County.
These students are challenged by many disabilities,
both mental and physical. However, there are few
limitations here as a safe and caring setting
combine to give each of our students a comfortable
place in today’s world.
